The Ministry of Housing has announced plans to sell 49 land plots in Malé, opening the application process to eligible buyers starting this Sunday.
The plots being put up for sale were acquired by the state in 2011 under the ‘Veshi Fahi Malé’ programme initiated during former President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration.
The available plots are distributed across the capital’s districts and the suburb of Villingili:
-
Maafannu: 21 plots
-
Machchangoalhi: 10 plots
-
Galolhu: 8 plots
-
Henveiru: 9 plots
-
Villingili: 1 plot
According to the Ministry, the opportunity to purchase these plots will first open on Sunday to interested parties who are beneficiaries of the respective land plots or owners of adjacent properties.
The plots are priced at MVR 2,000 per square foot.
Applicants must submit their purchase requests along with the required documentation outlined in the ‘Veshi Fahi Malé Programme State-Acquired Land Sale Regulations’—gazetted on June 28, 2021—by 2:00 PM on the 8th of next month. Maps and charts of the plots will be available on the Ministry’s website starting Sunday.
