Maldivian shoppers buying goods directly from top Indian e-commerce sites can now pay using Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) through Global Dukaan, starting this Friday.
The new payment option, rolled out through a joint partnership between Maldives Post and India Post, allows local consumers to bypass bank card foreign currency limits when buying products online from India. The change gives a massive boost to local online shoppers and small businesses that import Indian goods for resale in the Maldives.
Global Dukaan operates as a cross-border marketplace, bringing major Indian platforms—such as Amazon India, Myntra, Flipkart, Nykaa Fashion, and IKEA—together under a single service. Shoppers can purchase fashion products, electronic accessories, kitchenware, and beauty goods using local currency.
To use the service, customers can download the Global Dukaan app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, or register through their website. Users can browse participating Indian stores, add items from multiple platforms to a single cart, and pay directly in MVR at checkout.
