Ooredoo Maldives has been awarded the Ookla Speedtest Award for Maldives’ Best Fixed Network for the second quarter of 2025, becoming the first telecommunications provider to receive the distinction.

The award, presented by Ookla — a leading global firm in network intelligence and connectivity analytics — is based on consumer‑initiated speed test data that reflects real‑world user experience. The assessment draws on a composite speed score that measures download and upload performance alongside network responsiveness, offering an indication of how consistently customers can access high‑quality broadband services.

Ooredoo Maldives said the recognition underscores its ongoing investment in fibre‑optic expansion, network upgrades and new technologies aimed at improving digital access across Maldives.

“We are proud to win the Ookla Speedtest Award for Best Fixed Network in Maldives,” said Shadi Gawasmi, the company’s managing director and chief executive. “Our network is designed to connect rural communities, empower people and enable businesses to thrive in a digital economy. We remain committed to delivering reliable connectivity across the country.”

The recognition comes as the Maldives steps up its digital transformation efforts, with fast, reliable broadband now regarded as a cornerstone of economic development, education, tourism, fintech and public administration. Ooredoo’s fixed‑network offerings include fibre broadband and next‑generation home connectivity solutions intended to support uninterrupted work, learning, streaming and communication.

The company situates these efforts within its broader “Digital Maldives” vision — a strategy aimed at strengthening regional digital ecosystems and ensuring that households and businesses, regardless of location, can participate fully in the online economy.
