President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has nominated Jamila Ali Khalid, former Vice President of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), as the Maldives’ new Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

The President’s letter was read out in Majlis today, officially seeking parliamentary approval for her appointment under the Constitution and the Maldivian Foreign Service Act.

The nomination has been sent to the Foreign Relations Committee for evaluation before the full house votes on her endorsement.

Jamila is a familiar face in diplomatic and public service circles. She previously served as the Maldivian Ambassador to Germany during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration.

Before joining the CSC and taking up diplomatic posts, she spent years as a news anchor for state media, having started her career in education.
