Abdul Raheem Off to Cambodia, Iruthisham Headed to Saudi Arabia for OIC Summit

Speaker of the People’s Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdulla has departed for Phnom Penh, Cambodia, leading a parliamentary delegation to attend the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC).
The conference, running through Friday, brings together legislative speakers and top parliamentary leaders to discuss international law, peaceful conflict resolution, and sustainable development. Abdul Raheem is slated to deliver a key address on the theme “Unity for Peace and Prosperity: Strengthening International Law and Peaceful Settlement of Disputes.”
His delegation includes Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid, Machangolhi South MP Musthafa Hussain, Faresmaathodaa MP Ashraf Rasheed, Chief of Bureau at the Majlis Secretariat Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, and Assistant Director-General of Foreign Relations Zuyyina Badrhee.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Dr. Iruthisham Adam also flew out for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to represent the Maldives at an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers.
The Saudi-convened meeting focuses directly on condemning ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the illegal seizure of Palestinian lands. Minister Iruthisham is scheduled to address the forum today, where she is expected to reaffirm the Maldives’ firm condemnation of Israeli actions in Palestine.
