The Maldivian government has decided to provide MVR 1 million in humanitarian assistance to Nepal following devastating floods and landslides across the country.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the decision, confirming that the relief funds will be deposited directly into Nepal’s Disaster Relief Fund. The financial package aims to support ongoing relief operations and help affected families recover from the natural disaster that struck on August 26, 2026.
According to the government, the aid underscores the Maldives’ commitment to regional solidarity, reflecting the nation’s belief in mutual support and compassion during times of crisis.
President Muizzu sent condolences to the government and people of Nepal over the loss of lives and widespread destruction, assuring that the Maldives stands firmly with Nepal in the wake of the disaster.
The Maldives and Nepal established official diplomatic ties in 1980, maintaining close and friendly relations over the past four decades. The government reaffirmed its dedication to supporting regional neighbors during emergencies and strengthening bilateral bonds.
