Malé — The Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI) has welcomed the launch of new digital immigration services, including an e-visa platform and a foreign worker identification system, introduced under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s “Maldives 2.0” national policy.

At a ceremony held at the Barcelona Nasandhura, President Muizzu officially inaugurated the new website, mobile application, and facial recognition system developed by Maldives Immigration. The e-visa service was also formally launched, marking a milestone in the country’s digital transformation agenda.

MNACI praised the initiative, noting that the new tools have significantly improved the management and oversight of foreign workers in the construction sector. The association, speaking on behalf of its members and executive committee, extended its congratulations and gratitude to the president.

“These services are essential for an island nation like The Maldives,” the association said in a statement, highlighting the importance of streamlined identification and visa processing. MNACI also commended the cooperation of key government officials, including Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihsan, Immigration Comptroller General Ahmed Faseeh, and immigration officers.

The association pledged full support for the government’s efforts to digitize immigration services, expressing hope that the reforms would help address challenges such as absconding and illegal labour. “This will make construction work more efficient and positively impact the industry,” MNACI said.

Maldives Immigration is the first government agency to fully digitize its services under the “Maldives 2.0” initiative. The broader project aims to modernize public service delivery across the country using digital tools, with a focus on speed, security, and transparency.
