Kuala Lumpur, – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim lauded Maldives’ decision to ban Israeli passport holders from entering the country, describing it as a “courageous” stand against Israel’s actions in Gaza. Speaking at a joint press conference with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who is on an official visit to Malaysia, Anwar expressed solidarity with the Maldives’ stance on the Palestinian cause.
“The decision not to allow entry on Israeli passports is a bold move,” Anwar said, noting that Malaysia and Maldives share a unified view in supporting the Palestinian people. President Muizzu, invited by Anwar, reaffirmed Maldives’ commitment to advocating for Palestinian rights and called for an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, including East Jerusalem.
The press conference followed the signing of five bilateral agreements between Malaysia and Maldives, aimed at deepening cooperation in sports, health, tourism, diplomatic training, and bilateral consultations. The agreements were signed by key officials from both countries.
In a joint statement, Anwar and Muizzu expressed their commitment to collaborate on regional and international issues, pledging to explore further avenues for bilateral engagement. The agreements mark a significant step in strengthening ties between the two nations.
