Maldives Battling Flood Crisis as MNDF Deploys Pumps Amidst Heavy Rains

A dire situation has unfolded in Male’ the capital of Maldives as the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) scrambles to address the aftermath of heavy rains. The MNDF has urgently installed pumps in 11 critical areas across the city in a desperate attempt to drain floodwaters. Multiple pumps have been strategically placed, notably in West Park and the vicinity of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), as these areas bear the brunt of the inundation.

As part of their relentless efforts in times of crisis, the MNDF has deployed 100 soldiers on the frontlines, tirelessly working to pump out the excess water and mitigate the escalating disaster.

This blow comes in the wake of heavy rains on December 31, compounding the challenges faced by the city and its residents. The MNDF’s swift response reflects their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the community, as they confront the immediate threats posed by the floods.
