Nine Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested in Male’ Drug Bust

Police have arrested nine Bangladeshi men in Male’ on suspicion of running an active drug sales operation, following a joint intelligence-led raid earlier this week.

Officers from the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence carried out the operation on September 1, searching a local guesthouse where they seized suspected illicit drugs.

The suspects taken into custody are Thohidul Islam, 35; Monir Bepari, 37; Jakir Munshi, 46; M.D. Abu Zaber Pramanik, 37; M.D. Usman, 23; Mohammad Bablu Ali, 34; M.D. Raihan, 32; Afranul Hoq Ashik, 34; and Mohammad Rakib Hossain, 30.

Following initial processing, police handed over all nine individuals to Maldives Immigration for further action. Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the ring remains ongoing.
