President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited the construction site of the new Al-Madrasathul Arabiyathul Islamiyya building today to check on the progress of the government-funded project.

Upon arrival, the President was received by Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development Dr. Ismail Shafeeu alongside Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) Managing Director Ibrahim Rasheed. The Ministry awarded the contract to RCC on November 12, 2024.

During the site visit, several Arabiyya students and youth seeking higher education opportunities met directly with President Muizzu to share their concerns. After hearing them out, the President assured the students that the administration would extend all possible support, pointing out the government’s strong priority on higher education.

The upcoming eight-storey school building will feature modern classrooms along with state-of-the-art facilities designed to support an expanded Arabic-language curriculum.

Constructing a spacious, fully-equipped facility on a suitable plot in Malé to relocate Arabiyya School was one of President Muizzu’s key presidential pledges. Construction is currently scheduled for completion by December 31, 2026, with classes officially set to start at the site for the 2027 academic year.
