Legal practitioner Adam Shameem has been named the new Chief Judicial Administrator, taking over the top spot at the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA).
Announcing the decision, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) stated that Shameem scored the highest marks during the interview process for the post. JSC congratulated Shameem on his appointment, pointing to his 14 years of legal experience.
Shameem previously served as a key member of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s defense team and was involved in political work alongside the former leader.
Prior to his appointment at the DJA, Shameem held the role of Senior Under Secretary at the President’s Office and served as a legal counsel for the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC).
The Chief Judicial Administrator post fell vacant back in April following the resignation of Amjad Musthafa.
