State Pharmaceuticals has kicked off talks with India’s Serum Institute—the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer—to fix supply lines and head off shortages of essential vaccines, medicines, and medical gear across the country.
The discussions took place yesterday during an official visit to Malé by Sandeep Muley, Director of International Business at the Serum Institute.
According to State Pharma, the meeting focused on setting up a dependable pipeline so essential medical supplies reach island clinics and hospitals without interruption. The two sides talked through options for importing quality vaccines, streamlining procurement systems, and teaming up on upcoming public health drives in the Maldives.
The Serum Institute supplies a massive share of the vaccines used worldwide in WHO and UN-backed global immunisation programs. State Pharma noted that partnering with the Indian manufacturing giant aims to guarantee the country’s access to safe, WHO-standard vaccines and critical pharmaceuticals over the long haul.
